THE 60th anniversary of the D-Day landings formed the focus of Redditch's twin town event in France.
Earlier this month, Redditch Mayor Kieth Boyd-Carpenter and representatives visited Friendship Link town Gruchet-le-Valasse in Normandy.
Over the weekend, they attended a formal wreath-laying ceremony at the war memorial in Gruchet, where the English and French mayors placed wreaths on behalf of their towns.
Speeches were read to honour the dead and acknowledge the role of Britain in the liberation of France.
The party also visited the landing beaches and the remains of a Mulberry harbour at Arromanches.
The British cemetery at Ranville and Pegasus Bridge and its museum were further items on the agenda.
A Celtic theme dinner rounded off the trip, where a collection of "would-be" Irish, Scottish and Welsh representatives from Redditch were entertained by Gruchet's Bretons and Gauls.
