A PLAN to breach one of Upton-upon-Severn's historic walls is being opposed by the town council.
It involves demolishing part of a brick wall in Oak Street for access to a proposed bungalow at Willowbank, School Lane.
"It's yet another old Upton wall under threat," said the new deputy mayor of Upton, planning chairman John Thompson.
The council has previously opposed plans to breach the walls, including a recent application by the Baptist Church, which was subsequently approved by Malvern Hills District Council.
"I don't think any more walls should come down. We were ratted on by the district council in allowing the one at the chapel to be breached," said councillor Eric White, at this week's meeting.
The present proposal involves demolishing part of a neighbour's wall, but members agreed that it should not be allowed, even if the neighbour agreed to it.
"I think we should recommend refusal. We don't want to see the wall go," said Simon Wilkinson.
