Versatile Hinton began his career at right-back before reverting to a centre-half role during the Conference championship-winning season.
The change of position proved the making of the former Birmingham City trainee who was once rated at £1 million and regularly drew in the scouts.
Various clubs have been linked with Hinton who has impressed with his mature, calm attitude and reading of the game.
Also capable of playing in midfield, Hinton signed a three-year extension to his deal in January 2001.
Once he had recovered from a niggling injury, he was again one of the team's stars in the 2001/02 campaign.
Though he sometimes struggled to maintain that form in season 2002/03, Hinton remained a key figure in the Harriers line-up.
He continued as a regular in 2003/04 and ended up back in his original right-back role.
