A MOTHER-of-three drank a bottle of sherry before locking herself in her bedroom and overdosing on anti-depressants after an argument with her partner.

Samantha Davis, a 30-year-old woman with a history of personal problems, had "appeared fine" while shopping in Worcester with her brother, Tyrun, on the morning of January 27.

However her partner, Roger Cox, visited Miss Davis' home in Hopton Street, St John's, at 1.15pm the same day and the couple began arguing.

Mr Cox later met up with her brother and the pair returned to Miss Davis' home to find it locked and no answer at the door, even though music was playing.

They forced the back door and, noticing an empty bottle of sherry on the kitchen table and hearing music upstairs, broke the lock on the bedroom door.

"On entry, Tyrun put on the light and saw Samantha laying face down on the bed," said a report from Det Sgt Keith Weale.

"Mr Cox turned her and saw that her face was blue. They called for an ambulance and gave CPR to Samantha."

Miss Davis, a cleaner, was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital and pronounced dead just before 8.30pm on January 27.

Mr Davis said his sister had "personal problems" and was seeing a counsellor because of drug use. She also had two appointments to see a psychiatrist but had not kept them.

A search of the house uncovered a selection of different prescribed drugs, and empty packets, totalling 34 boxes, three bottles and 10 individual tablets.

The post mortem revealed Miss Davis had taken a fatal quantity of dothiepin - an anti-depressant - a high level of alcohol and another drug, nordothiepin.

At the inquest on Tuesday, Worcestershire County Coroner Victor Round said he was satisfied there was nothing suspicious about the death and recorded that she had taken her own life.
