PAINTINGS of a Yellow Hat Tribe by a Cotswolds artist will be exhibited at a farm in Church Westcote this weekend.
Irene George, who built up her painting business from a doodle of a sombrero-clad character on the back of an envelope, now sells her paintings all over the world.
Her first picture was sold to her bank manager for £400 when he came to discuss the financial problems she and her partner Vince were facing when the bottom fell out of the ostrich meat market, which their income depended on.
Six years on, her works fetch between £25 and £4,500, selling from her studio at Brookfield Ostrich Farm in Church Westcote and in countries like America, China, Dubai and Madagascar.
She paints on canvas with acrylic and some oils, but also loves to paint the occasional seascape and flowers in watercolour.
The exhibition will be held at Brookfield Ostrich Farm tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday between 10am and 6pm.
