A SEARCH has been launched to discover the people who have dedicated their lives to the conservation of the countryside, its habitats and wildlife.
Gamekeepers are part of the traditional fabric of rural life, but the job they do and the contribution they make to the rich diversity of the British countryside is often misunderstood or overlooked.
Now the longest serving exponents of the keeper's craft are being sought out for public recognition.
Organisers of this year's CLA Game Fair at Blenheim Palace from July 23 to 25 are looking for keepers who have completed 40 years service on more than five estates in order to present them with the prestigious CLA Long Service Award.
Game Fair director David Hough said: "In areas where wildlife is abundant, habitat healthy and diverse and where nature truly is in balance, the one consistent factor is a good gamekeeper."
