JAZZ sensation Courtney Pine is to headline this year's outdoor music event at West Midland Safari Park.
The singer, who released his ninth studio album, Devotion, last year and presents weekly Radio 2 show, Jazz Crusade, will be performing at the first day of the event alongside American band, Ozomatli, and Kidderminster band, Cantaloop.
The opening evening, on Friday, July 9, will be devoted to a lively mix of jazz and Latin American rhythms, while the second night will see Wyre Forest Symphony Orchestra playing popular music from musicals and The Proms before the evening draws to a close with a firework finale.
The proceeds from the two-day musical extravaganza will be donated to Childline West Midlands in Tune with Childline campaign.
Since the regional charity opened in April, 2002, 9,048 children from the local DY postcode area alone have received help from a Childline volunteer counsellor and statistics show up to three times that number of calls are unable to get through due to lack of funds.
Courtney Pine was awarded an OBE for his services to jazz in 2000.
More information and tickets for the two day event can be obtained by calling the West Midland Safari Park ticket hotline on 01299 400700.
