A FORMER Kidderminster mayor who refused to use the civic car in office has died aged 91.
Jim Bourke was known as the "walking mayor" because he refused to use taxpayers' money to fund the mayoral car.
An Irishman and devoted member of St Ambrose RC Church, he was mayor during 1981-1982 and a Liberal councillor representing Broadwaters from 1973 to 1986. Mr Bourke, who died peacefully in his sleep, is survived by a daughter, son and two grandchildren.
