TONIGHT (Friday) at 7.30pm at the parish hall, an opportunity to meet Paul Harris of The Marches Little Beer Shoppe, Ludlow, and sample beers for all tastes, English and Continental. Tickets, available at the door, cost £7.50 and include a ploughman's supper. Proceeds to parish hall funds, do come for an enjoyable and interesting evening.
Tomorrow (Saturday) at 10.30am, another regular village coffee morning at the parish hall. Stalls include Traidcraft, plants, cakes and bring and buy. Entrance 50p to include coffee and biscuits.
Following the 6.30pm evensong service at Holy Trinity Bosbury on Sunday, a glass of wine and nibbles will be available to concertgoers before the start of the Music at Bosbury, Midsummer Quintet concert at 8pm. The Midsummer Ensemble is a locally-based group of musicians, named after Midsummer Hill. They have been playing together for more than 12 years and are much in demand for recitals and other special occasions. Their programme will include a Haydn string quartet, a Mozart flute quartet and music by J C Bach, Telemann, Gluck and Mendelssohn. The soup and cheese lunches arranged during Red Cross and Christian Aid weeks were a great success, both as social occasions in the village and as a way of raising money for these good causes. Over £550 was collected and co-ordinator Margaret Honey extends her warmest thanks to all those who took part, especially the hostesses involved.
Village newspaper deliveries. Regular customers of milkman David Hall, of Callow, Hereford, will know that from Monday, May 31 he will also be delivering daily newspapers. New customers requiring information please ring (01432) 269637. The proposed arrangement with Jim and June Green of Lower Eggleton and the Bell Inn at Bosbury is not therefore viable, but we are most grateful for their willing intent to support village facilities.
Fancy a game of bowls or tennis? The local facilities are open to all, the casual cost: tennis court £4 per hour, bowling green £1 per person per hour. Bookings may be made at the Bell Inn between 10am-1pm and 3pm-8pm and the Bowls and Tennis Club are most grateful to Martin and Lawson at the Bell for their willing co-operation. June is going to be a very sociable month in Bosbury. Holy Trinity Church will be celebrating Trinity weekend starting on Friday, June 4 with a Music for All concert and on Saturday in the parish hall, a ceilidh with a Jane Austen theme. On Sunday, June 6, the 11am service will be followed by a parish lunch. All are most welcome. More details next week.
The Bosbury in Bloom open gardens day is on Sunday, June 13, eight village gardens will be open. Your support for all these events would be appreciated.
