FORMER Hanley Castle High School pupil Amelia Marriette has been appointed curator of the Holst Birthplace Museum in Cheltenham.
Ms Marriette has moved to the museum from the Royal Shakespeare Company. Her arrival coincides with a concert in aid of the museum by soprano Dame Felicity Lott and cellist Julian Lloyd Webber.
The museum needs to raise £600,000 to be assured of a long-term future. Dame Felicity, a patron of the museum, will perform Hail the Sun's Rising on Tuesday, May 25. The piece has never been played on the professional stage before.
Julian Lloyd Webber will make a rare public appearance to play Holst's Invocation. The concert is at the Town Hall. For more information call 01242 227979.
