ALONG with most local residents, I find the wrecking of the fountains (Malvern Gazette, May 7) appalling but feel that it is something we must get used to unless the local authorities can direct the police force from motorists to unruly elements of the younger generation.
For Katherine Barber to assume the problem is with drunks coming back from the pub is somewhat hiding the real truth. She should see Malvern Link, or perhaps Barnards Green, after dark and find out who is loose on the streets.
I think she would find that it is unsupervised youths who claim that they are bored and trash anything in their path. Some are frighteningly young, their parents will have no idea what they are up to and probably do not care. It is time that those in authority wised up to the facts.
