The Chase Brass Band is delighted that there is such strong feeling regarding the Bands in the Park.
All too often events disappear from a lack of support. As a result of the report in the Malvern Gazette (May 7), my phone has been busy with disappointed brass enthusiasts.
It is very sad to see such a popular event reduced from 18 to 12 performances. We very much enjoy the variety of bands and we are very proud to play at the prestigious last event in the last few years.
I am, however, disappointed that the Malvern Gazette headlined with "Brassed off with council". We as a band are very grateful to the town council for their direct support with Christmas events and the generous grant we were given last year towards the purchase of instruments.
I hope the series can return next year with 18 performances and to this end we will assist the town council in marshalling next year if required.
Unfortunately it was too late to change the programme for this year.
