CHAMPAGNE corks flew when Malvern Town Football Club clinched its first league title for almost 50 years.
In a 2-0 win against Bromyard, the team sealed its promotion to the Midlands Football Alliance.
Britain was involved in the Suez Crisis when Malvern Town last won a league title, the Midland Combination League division one in 1956.
General manager Richard Anson said a new stadium was essential for the club to build on its success.
"The project to find a new ground is very much alive," he said.
Mr Anson said a meeting about a potential ground was taking place next week. He would not reveal further details but said things were progressing "quite positively".
"I'd like to think Malvern could be playing Southern League football in two or three years time," he said.
To play in the Southern League, Malvern would have to have a new stadium.
Teams of volunteers had spent two months upgrading the club's existing ground, Langland Stadium, to make it eligible for promotion.
