FOUR children from Malvern Parish Primary School have been successful in the regional competition of the British Land UK Chess Challenge and have won places at the national final.
Seven members of the school chess club took part in the Mercia regional final held at University College, Worcester, competing with children from throughout Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire.
Joe Foulds was the runner-up in the U10 Boys age group, and Catherine Bevan in the U10 Girls, while Hugh Harris (U8 Boys) and Matthew Robinson (U9 Boys) also qualified on points.
The four will now be travelling to Manchester University to compete in the National Gigafinal held on July 10.
