I WAS dismayed to read that Worcester is to receive £3.5m to create a ""model" (transport) system for other cities to follow."
Is there no end to the number of ways loony Labour can invent to flush our hard-earned taxes down the drain of stupidity?
Does Mike Foster know what he is talking about, when he is reported to have commented that the cash is vital to winning the battle against congestion, and tempting people from their cars?
Worcester does not have a "congestion" problem. Worcester's problem is too many new houses being built by the development-mad.
And now that development madness is choking our roads, are we really now to be expected to facilitate even more unsustainable housing development, by getting our bikes or shank's pony?
I can save the Government all that money, and produce a model transport system that can be copied by every other city in the country.
The "model transport system" is stop building all the new housing that is choking our roads with traffic.
Is adopting China's transport strategy, and making us use bikes (or walk) worth pouring three-and-a-half million of our money down the drain?
N TAYLOR, Worcester.
