A SERVING prisoner has been given a three-month jail sentence by Worcester Magistrates Court.
However, Anthony Reeve, of Evesham Road, Norton, near Evesham, was yesterday told the sentence would run concurrently with his present 12-month sentence for dangerous driving, meaning that his release date in August would remain the same.
Reeve, aged 28, admitted two charges of obtaining services through deception, for which he was given the two three-month sentences to run concurrently with each other, and one charge of theft, which resulted in a further one-month prison sentence that also runs concurrently.
Mark Soper, prosecuting, told the court the first deception charge happened between Saturday, February 7, and Monday, February 9, when Reeve stayed at the Broadway Hotel, Broadway, under an assumed name.
When he checked-out he said someone else would pay the bill.
The theft charge resulted from him failing to return the room key to the hotel.
Mr Soper added that the other deception charge related to when Reeve withdrew money from a post office in Evesham using another person's giro.
Heroin
Paul Stanley, defending, said his client, who admitted all the offences in police interview, was heavily under the influence of heroin when he made the giro withdrawal.
"He agreed to carry out the act for another person," said Mr Stanley.
"He did not really have a choice."
