THE Marquess of Hertford will have to wait another month to find out if he can go ahead with plans for a topiary garden next to Ragley hall.
Lord Hertford has objected to a tree preservation order (TPO) which Stratford District Council has served on a group of 16-year-old trees to prevent them being pollarded.
His objection was due to be discussed at a meeting of the district council's Arden Area planning meeting on Thursday but as the statutory six moths have not yet passed since the order was made, it has had to be deferred to the next meeting.
Lord Hertford says his plans are in keeping with a Grade II Registered Garden.
He adds other trees in the area which are not affected and which have already been shaped have brought compliments from visitors.
But experts employed by the district council say the proposed work on the trees is "inappropriate and poor arboricultural practice".
Officers have recommended the preservation order is confirmed.
The matter will now be discussed on June 17.
