MIGHTY Mini racer Paul Crees was hoping to better his season's best position at Snetteron on the weekend.
However, suspension problems caused the Brockhill racer to spend more than five hours under the bonnet before race day and almost rule out any hopes he had.
He said: "I went out for a few laps in qualifying and it just wasn't going very well."
After qualifying in 15th position, Crees was dreaming of beating his best ever seventh position in the championship but during the race was always chasing the leaders.
"The first few laps of the race were good and I was doing alright then I went off the track and once I lost the leading pack it was always going to be difficult."
Crees, who finished 13th overall, even strapped an alarm clock to his dashboard to keep track of the longer than usual race time.
Crees will be at Oulton Park on June 12 for the full grand prix circuit and two twenty minute races.
