A VICTORIAN fountain in a popular Worcester park will soon spout again following a £28,000 clean-up.
The upper section of the cast-iron fountain, which forms a focal point in Cripplegate Park, was yesterday lowered into place.
The fountain, which was made at the Blockhouse foundry of Hardy and Padmore and presented to the city by Richard Padmore in 1858, has been a landmark in the park since 1924.
The clean-up exercise, the biggest in its 146-year history, involved stripping the surface and giving it a new lick of paint.
The fountain was previously sited in the former Market Hall, stretching from the High Street to the Shambles for more than 60 years.
