FOURTEEN primary schools competed in last week's annual Stratford District Council football tournament at the Recreation Ground.
Eight teams contested both the boys and girls events with Our Lady's Catholic Primary School from Alcester and Welford-on-Avon Primary winning the respective competitions.
Both winning teams remained undefeated throughout with Our Lady's winning five and drawing two of their seven matches, conceding just one goal in claiming top spot.
The Willows were the closest rivals as they won four and drew two but, crucially, lost out the eventual winners.
Welford weren't the only unbeaten team in the girls round-robin section as St Faith's from Alcester proved hard to beat but their record of four wins and three draws, again conceding a single goal, left them one point adrift of the winners.
Welford's defence wasn't breached during the entire tournament, while seven goals at the opposite end brought a handful of wins and two goalless draws and the District title.
Brian Slaughter, chairman of the District Council, presented the trophies and medals.
