HEREFORDSHIRE were denied victory in their opening Minor Counties Championship Western Division game when Wiltshire's final pair of batsmen held on for the last nine overs at Colwall during a tense finale.
Set 394 to win in their second innings, the visitors recovered from 22-3 to close on 322-9 thanks mainly to half centuries from Michael Coles (90) and Baqar Rizvi (81).
Valuable contributions from Richard Bates (48) and Richard Belbrook (44) also helped the cause.
Paceman Simon Roberts was the pick of Herefordshire's bowlers, taking 6-90 in 28 overs to give him match figures of 11-176.
Former Worcestershire left-arm spinner Matt Rawnsley toiled hard for his 2-100 which came off 44 overs.
Herefordshire took 11 points to Wiltshire's 10.
Chris Boroughs side are next in action against Shropshire in the first round of the Minor Counties Cricket Association Trophy, which also takes place at Colwall, on Sunday, June 6.
