MARCUS Humpston, having scored his maiden half-century for Badsey's senior Sunday team the previous day, continued his good form with 100 not out against Pershore Under-14 in the first round of the Worcestershire League Knockout Cup.
His century came off just 60 balls and included 12 4s and five 6s as Badsey reached 168-4 from their allotted 20 overs.
Adam Westmacott wei-ghed in with 14 and Sam Thomson scored 20 not out off 14 balls.
Pershore needed a good start but found life difficult with Nick Powell taking the prize wickets of Doust and Ridings in his second over.
Stickler and McGorrigan provided stubborn resistance with 22 and 20 respectively until Jamie Anderson claimed two wickets in two balls.
When Christian Pearce claimed Stickler's wicket in his first over it was going to be an uphill struggle with Pershore on 51-5 after 13 overs and Badsey ran out winners by 92 runs.
Steve Powell took 3-15. Nick Powell 2-8, Anderson 2-12 and Pearce 1-8.
Playing their first Under-14 Worcestershire League game, Badsey defeated Rushwick by 38 runs. Batting first, Michael Powell was in top form and scored 34 in an opening partnership with Anderson of 39.
Nick Powell then produced his best form of the season with the bat as he raced swiftly to 44 before being bowled.
Namesake Michael continued to dominate the bowling and finished with 64 not out as Badsey reached 137-3 off their allotted 20 overs.
Rushwick made a slow start as Anderson took a wicket in his first over and continued with a tight spell of spin bowling for figures of 2-5 from four overs.
Steve Powell was similarly tight until his last over and he finished with analysis of 2-20. Nick Powell was the other wicket taker as Badsey fielded well to record a good debut win.
There was plenty of excitement in the second game after Barnards Green had scored 107-7.
Michael and Nick Powell added 34 for the first wicket and Humpston then took up the reins before falling to a fine catch.
Thomson's quickfire 17 left Badsey needing four off the last over and Chris Ayliffe scored two off the last ball to secure a tie.
