A MULTI-million pound deal and hundreds of new jobs could be coming to the town thanks to a Bromsgrove businessman.
Douglas Clark, of Clark's Motors, has applied for planning permission to build a unique motor village spanning nine acres on the Buntsford Gate industrial park.
Bromsgrove was chosen as the perfect site in the south Birmingham area because of its excellent motorway links, growing residential population and reputation for business development.
According to Mr Clark it will be a 'one-stop shop' with more than 60 per cent of the top car manufacturers represented and facilities such as a shuttle bus to take people into town after they have dropped their cars off for a service.
"I have been to Calgary in Canada where they have these motor villages and it inspired me to set this one up.
"It is a fantastic opportunity for the town," he said.
Mr Clark estimates 360 jobs will be created on the site giving a massive boost for employment in Bromsgrove.
Now Bromsgrove District Council will have to decide whether to allow a change of use of the land from industrial to retail.
Dealers such as Renault, Peugeot, Fiat, Rover, Toyota, Honda and Suzuki have been sizing up the site.
Mr Clark has asked Bromsgrove architect, Mike Chapman, to design the state-of-the-art buildings for the motor village.
If all goes to plan the proposed scheme could be up and running in 18 months time.
The proposal is set to come before the town's planning committee on Monday, June 21.
