A UGANDAN headteacher made his mark by planting a tree in the garden of a Rednal school.
Ssembuga Kasimu, headteacher of the Masindi Islamic Primary School, travelled thousands of miles to meet children and staff at Rednal Hill Junior School.
Ssembuga was given the same welcome which Rednal headteacher Di Slater enjoyed when she visited the Masindi school in the north of Uganda 12 months ago.
Mrs Slater's spoke to the Advertiser/Messenger before her trip last July and explained that she would be teaching at the school as part of the Global Teachers' Millennium Award Scheme.
Last Thursday Ssembuga marked his visit to the Irwin Avenue school by planting a weeping silver birch in its garden, which is very popular with the children.
