THE survey to deepen the River Arrow (Letters, May 5) to allow boats at Alcester has brought another point to the surface.
Some six years ago, a survey conducted around the Conway Estate (which led to the establishment of the highly successful Alcester Opportunities Project) identified a swimming pool as the top priority for the people who lived there.
It does seem a shame that money is being spent on a project that was not mentioned by anyone then and the swimming pool has apparently sunk without trace.
Could the two be somehow combined? An outdoor pool beside the boat marina, say? Water has more uses than to drink, fish in and sail little boats upon.
Congratulations on your increased coverage of Alcester matters, thanks in part to Anne Tugwell. The photos are excellent too, particularly those by Mike Fenwick.
He took a lot of trouble with the one of the skating lad (Chronicle, May 12) and also of the somewhat more static visage of our splendid Rector. Long may you continue in this vein.
