A GLIMPSE of Redditch's thriving fish hook manufacturing past will be offered when the national Vintage Fishing Tackle Fair comes to town.
The Abbey Stadium will be opening its doors on Sunday to anglers who want to buy, sell or swap fishing tackle, books, cased fish or angling trophies.
Angling Times vintage tackle expert Chris Sandford and sponsor Neil Freeman will be on hand to answer questions and carp historian Chris Ball will be exhibiting memorabilia.
A spokesman from Forge Mill Museum said Redditch was the ideal place to hold the Vintage Fishing Tackle Fair, because in Victorian times it was famed for its fishhook industry.
Fishhook manufacturer S Allcock and Co, in Clive Road, was a world-renowned business and even needle manufacturer Partridges, of Mount Pleasant, produced hand-made hooks and other fishing tackle.
The 56-stall event, which is sponsored by Neil Freeman's Angling Auctions, will be held on Sunday from 9am-4pm.
