A BAKERY business more than rose to the occasion when it was asked to help bring smiles to the faces of poorly children staying at the Alexandra Hospital.
Entertainers went in to cheer up the youngsters, thanks to a donation from Warburtons.
The show was organised by POD, a charity which raises funds for entertainers to visit children's wards in hospitals to amuse the young patients during their stay.
As part of the year-long sponsorship and Warburtons Community Commitment Programme, the Wednesbury-based bakery will provide funding for entertainers, including magicians, musicians, puppeteers, storytellers and clowns to attend the hospital children's ward regularly.
POD administrator Margaret Munford said: "Although we're helpless in actually making children better, we can make them feel a bit better and the mind is an important part of the healing process."
Warburtons sales manager Mike Ewing said: "We're always looking for community projects to support. It's wonderful to see the impact of POD and we feel very proud to be part of this."
