LOST lorry drivers are testing the linguistic skills of villagers in Wixford and Exhall.
The drivers are en route for industrial estates in Exhall, Coventry, and despite signs on the A46 and other main roads, they still end up driving along the tiny country lanes and seeking directions from residents.
As many of them do not speak English, attempts at re-direction were proving difficult until Wixford Parish Council stepped in.
The council produced cards in four languages, including French and German, explaining to the drivers they are in the wrong place and how to get back.
The cards were then offered to residents.
Shirley Talboys, who has been parish clerk for 11 years, said: "It's been a problem for as long as I've been on the council."
And parish councillor Jane Drinkwater added: "We actually had them printed about three years ago but they are still proving to be very useful."
