POINT-TO-POINT: The race to become the West Midlands' leading male rider has gone down to the wire yet again and will be decided in Chaddesley Corbett on Bank Holiday Monday.
Chaddesley hosts the Albrighton Woodland meeting, with the first race running at 2pm, and Edward Walker holds a narrow lead over Julian Pritchard and third-placed Tim Stephenson.
While the three jockeys are chasing regional honours, Richard Burton is pursuing Ashley Farrant in the national title race.
With dry weather predicted, there will be regular watering prior to the meeting to ensure a good turn-out from the 171 entries.
The Confined race could set the pattern for the afternoon as Pritchard, Burton, Stephenson and Walker will all be in with a shout on Cider Man, Petrouge, Smile Pleeze and Campdonian respectively.
Walker has a second string to his bow in Celtic Song, while Burton could team up with Jemaro in the Mixed Open and Pritchard has the choice of four possible mounts.
The battle for the title could extend to the Restricted race where Pritchard is likely to ride April Treasure or Ebony Hack, Walker has the choice of Jolly Jake or Red Spark and Stephenson could partner Ski Pass.
In the Members race, Helen Needham's Broome stable have a winning chance with Always Good.
Needham is organising a terrier racing event before the point-to-point action from noon.
It is likely to be split into six heats, heading 80 yards from the last fence to the finish lane, and has the backing of local businesses to provide a cash prize for the winner.
Needham said: "It's just an idea we had and will probably be the first in the area that I know of. We shall see how we get on."
