VOLLEYBALL: Cleobury Mortimer Ladies were knocked out of the West Midlands League Cup semi-finals with a 3-0 home defeat to Tettenhall seconds.
They should have been warmed up following a friendly victory over Kineton but failed to exploit their strengths.
The first set started badly with Cleobury unable to get a ball in the air until player-of-the-match Amanda Price stepped up the pace.
Decent passes eventually made their way to setter Ceri Little and new player Francesca Hinves attacked on the wing but it was nowhere near enough and the set went to Tettenhall 10-25.
Cleobury picked up their game in the second with good high passing by captain Robyn Slingsby and libero player Julie White.
Tina Bate stood tall on the block and Tettenhall started to wobble as Hayley Turpin attempted some killer shots but again the visitors dominated to win 25-10 again.
Cleobury were determined to scrape back their dignity in the third set but they left it too late and lost 25-12 to experienced opposition.
The players now look forward to the club dinner and presentation evening at Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club on Saturday, June 12.
