I READ with interest the letter in last week's Shuttle/Times & News entitled "Peacocks are not criminals" together with the suggestion that Bodenham Arboretum would make a good home for them.
I am sure that the peacocks would love Bodenham, just as the owners and visitors do, but that would not be the end of the story.
We have had several peacocks and peahens at Bodenham before, and had to find another home for them as they cannot resist eating anything and everything that is red, or has bright colours (geraniums are a special favourite!)
They are very noisy in the mating season and can be rather aggressive and frightening to our younger visitors. We have every sympathy with Cookley, and wish them well in their search for a new home for their unwelcome visitors.
