EVESHAM Library will be closed for three weeks of refurbishment from next Monday.

Library users will be able to see the benefit when the library re-opens on Monday, June 21, as Worcestershire County Council is investing in new carpets and a fresh coat of paint for the interior to keep the facilities up to scratch for the coming years.

All of the library's books will be packaged away for safe-keeping while the work takes place and regular users are being advised to try other local libraries in the meantime.

Anyone borrowing books or music before the closure will have the items stamped for return after the library re-opens and will be able to borrow extra items - up to 99! - to allow for the extra weeks.

County Councillor Clive Holt, of Evesham, said: "I hope the temporary closure won't cause too many problems for people because it is important that we keep our facilities in good order. The work means that the people of Evesham will be able to enjoy a well-kept building to match the high standards of the facilities and services on offer one it re-opens in June."

He pointed out Pershore library was not too far away and could be a useful substitute for some people while Evesham was closed.
