A MURDER suspect is waiting to find out if he will be released on bail after being charged with stabbing a man to death.
Gary Cunningham, of Willow Court, off Stanley Road, Worcester, appeared at the city's magistrates court yesterday accused of killing 19-year-old Stuart Clark.
Mr Clark, of Spring Hill, Worcester, died at 8am on Sunday after being found in Willow Court with a single stab wound at around 3am that morning.
District judge Bruce Morgan had granted Cunningham, aged 41, bail with conditions that included staying out of the city unless he was due at court or for attending appointments at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
But an appeal against the decision was immediately lodged by Lesley Ashton, prosecuting, and Cunningham will now remain in custody, until he appears at Worcester Crown Court for an application for bail hearing tomorrow.
Cunningham's trial will begin on Thursday, June 3, at Worcester Crown Court.
Inquest
An inquest into Mr Clark's death was opened yesterday.
Worcestershire coroner Victor Round said pathologists had recorded his cause of death as a puncture wound to the abdomen.
Mr Round adjourned the inquest for the case to be heard at the crown court.
