ROYAL Zara Phillips and ex-England cricketer Phil Tufnell have been trekking to Worcester as part of a mammoth 500-mile walk for charity.

Tufnell arrived at Evesham Cricket Club at around 8pm on Monday night.

After an overnight stay in Evesham, Phil joined Zara - the Queen's 22-year-old granddaughter - at the cricket club to embark on the next leg of his journey - a 19-mile walk to npower in Worcester.

The pair were due to arrive at sponsor npower's Worcester offices in Shire Business Park, off Warndon, Way, at 4pm yesterday and Tufnell was expected to stay overnight in the city before embarking on the next leg of his tour this morning.

Both the Royal and the I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! winner appeared tanned and relaxed and happily chatted to reporters at Evesham Cricket club.

Tufnell joked with the Press that he had had 20 cigarettes and four pints of lager for breakfast.

The sporting celebrity, whose mother died from leukaemia when he was 14 years-old, aims to raise £250,000 for Macmillan Cancer Relief as he travels between 20 village cricket clubs and six Test Match grounds.

The 38-year-old said he had been under no illusion the walk would be easy.

"I've got swollen Achilles tendons, tendonitis across both feet, a cramping left calf and blisters on blisters. I've even got nappy rash.

"And Zara has come to give us a bit of a lift. It's a great day for a stroll."

Zara said she was glad to be supporting the charity, adding: "It's a great cause. The charity's been doing great work and I thought I'd come along.

"I heard Phil was a bit creaky. I've come to keep the old man going."

Tufnell is due to end the challenge at Nottingham's Trent Bridge cricket ground on Saturday, June 12, for the final of England's test series against New Zealand.
