ORGANISERS of this weekend's Evesham Carnival are all flared up and ready to take full advantage of the event's 70s theme.
The original caped crusader Batman and his trusty sidekick, Robin, are just two of the superheroes putting in an appearance.
The charity fund-raiser, organised by members of Evesham's Round Table, looks set to be the most spectacular yet with more than 14 entrants taking part in the procession, including the original Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car.
Carnival committee chairman Andrew Laver said: "We have had a fantastic response from the local community, businesses, organisations and of course the local 'superheroes'. They have all contributed in some way to helping make this year's carnival a success.
Special guest
"We now have over 14 entrants for the main procession and these include various floats, marching bands and of course the special guest Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. We are hoping to see as many people as possible lining the procession route."
Two lucky people are being offered the opportunity to ride in the 'special guest' car during the parade.
The other place in the car will be raffled off on the day, with tickets on sale in Market Square on Saturday morning.
The winner will be announced before 1pm and both lucky entrants will also win a copy of the film on DVD.
Judging of the carnival floats will take place on Crown Meadow between 11.30am and 12.30pm. The procession is expected to take around two hours and will leave Crown Meadow at 2pm, go along Waterside and up through Swan Lane before going down High Street.

Future vision
ORGANISERS of this year's Pershore Carnival are hoping the 'Vision of the Future' theme will encourage maximum participation.
The broad theme was deliberately chosen to allow people plenty of scope when designing costumes.
The carnival, on Bank Holiday Monday, includes a farmers market, craft fair, dog show, fire station open day, grand draw and the usual charity stalls and games on Abbey Park.
The fancy dress will begin at 1pm, with people who want to become involved asked to meet in the Brandy Cask gardens before 12.30pm.
The prize for the best fancy dress is £50, with £25 for the runner-up.
A free bus link has also bee arranged between Pinvin village, Pershore Station, Broad Street and Defford Road between 9am and 6pm. For more information log on to www.pershore-carnival.com
