BOSBURY Church is dedicated to the Holy Trinity and the celebrations to mark the start of the Trinity season will be on June 4-6. The traditional Music for All concert will take place at the church on Friday, June 4. If you are able to play an instrument, sing, recite or generally entertain, Esther Kay would like to hear from you on 670634. This varied feast of music is a swinging start to Patronal Festival celebrations. Tickets are available on the door, adults £5, children £2.50 and family £12, to include a drink and nibbles.
On Saturday, June 5, there is a Jane Austen ceilidh in the parish hall. Dance the dances of Pride and Prejudice to authentic music, enter into the spirit of the dance by donning your Regency dress! The usual ceilidh fare will also be played and the Regency dress is optional! A ploughman's supper and a glass of wine is included in the ticket price of adults £6, children £3, family £15. The Patronal Festival service will be 11am on Sunday, June 6, and will be followed by a parish lunch. Everyone is most welcome and Reverend Sue Strutt and the churchwardens hope you are able to join them for the celebrations.
This Sunday, Pentecost will be celebrated at a 9.30am Holy Communion at Holy Trinity Bosbury and later the five 'hop churches' combine for a service of choral evensong at 6.30pm at Canon Frome. Bosbury Church Choir will be joined by the St Michael Singers from Ledbury for this service.
Another important date to note is Sunday, June 13. The church and the parish hall are holding a joint fundraising effort, Bosbury in Bloom. Eight village gardens will be open to the public. A varied selection of well-loved cottage gardens with many hidden delights and some more formal acres with specimen, ornamental trees and shrubs. Most of the gardens will have plants on sale at very reasonable prices and one of the gardens will also host a specialist fuchsia stall. The gardens will be open from 11am-6pm, tickets with map will be on sale at the village hall, single £5, couple £8 and family £10. They will permit entrance to all open gardens throughout the day. Refreshments, including some delicious home-made cakes, will be available in the village hall from 11am also tickets for the gardening draw.
