A CRADLEY farmer worried about an accident blackspot has come up with a solution to the problem.
Dennis Johnson, of Lychcroft Farm, said he would give around half an acre of his own land for the junction at Tan House Lane and the A4103 Hereford to Worcester road to be altered and made safer.
He said: "It would definitely be worth it even if it only saves one life, because it's only a matter of time before somebody gets killed there."
Mr Johnson said there had been numerous accidents, as drivers emerging from the junction were unable to see unless they poked the front of their cars out into the flow of traffic.
He said the bottom of cars often scrapped the surface of the road because the junction was on such a steep hill and it was difficult to hold a vehicle on the slope.
Mr Johnson felt visibility would be better and the hill flattened if a new junction was built using part of his field.
With his neighbour John Mosey, he presented the idea to Cradley Parish Council at a meeting on Thursday, May 13.
Coun Michael Allfrey backed the proposal. He said: "Perhaps we could invite members of Herefordshire Council's highways department down and they could be invited to drive out of there.
"I think if they came out of there it wouldn't be too long until the road was altered."
The parish council will be contacting Herefordshire Council's highways department about Mr Johnson's offer.
