THE Worcestershire Golf Club in Malvern Wells was the venue for a celebrity golf tournament, reported the Gazette 25 years ago.
The event was organised by the Variety Club of Great Britain as part of the Malvern club's centenary year.
Among the celebrities taking part in the tournament were former British heavyweight boxing champion Henry Cooper, England footballer Bobby Charlton, TV sports presenter Jimmy Hill and entertainers Frank Carson and Roger de Courcey. The celebrities presented a Variety Club Sunshine Coach to Manor Park Special School in Worcester, with a promise of a second coach to follow.
