CHRIS Garrard's Worcester career could come to an end if Matt Burke signs on at Sixways.

The winger, whose position has been placed 'under review' in the close season, may not be offered a new deal if the Wallaby legend completes his Worc-ester move.

Garrard became a crowd favourite at Sixways after his 2001 arrival but, following the arrival of Frenchman Thomas Lombard, and the possible capture of Burke, the Australian looks to have played his final game for the Warriors.

"We've always been straight with Chris," said Worcester's director of rugby John Brain. "I spoke to him in the lead-up to the Lombard signing and told him the situation. We've brought in Thomas and, if we sign Matt Burke, then Chris' position becomes untenable."

Fellow winger Wes Davies will also be leaving the club while Chris Hall and Iyran Clunis may have differing fortunes.

Brain is understood to be keen on bringing in another hooker to bolster his squad and that could leave Hall and Worcester with a decision to make.

The former Gloucester man still has a year left on his contract and any possible move away from Sixways would have to involve some sort of negotiation. Clunis, meanwhile, may play for Worcester's academy next season.

"Iyran won't be involved in the first team squad but there is a possibility, because of his age, of him going into the academy," added Brain. "The situation with Chris Hall is quite clear. He is under contract and we are not going to let him go and leave ourselves with just one hooker at the club."

Brain looks set, however, to bring in another hooker before the beginning of next season and that, with the addition of a full back, would put the finishing touches to his summer shopping spree.

He has already brought in 11 players for Worcester's Premiership baptism and admits he's been pleased with the recruitment.

"It's gone well," he said. "We've been pro-active and gone after the players we wanted. There have been some disappointments along the way but, overall, things are shaping up well.Certainly the pack is much stronger.

"We have real strength in depth. We will go into the season with six of the eight players from last season's pack and we have added quality."
