WORCESTERSHIRE peace protester Brian Haw is not the first to set up home in Parliament Square, MPs were reminded this week.
Brian, who is approaching the third anniversary of his residency outside the Commons, was beaten to it by a pig.
Liberal Democrat MP Sir Robert Smith said: "The pavement has become a legal loophole, but that did not begin with the current occupant.
"A pig lived there for some time at the height of the crash in the pig farming industry.
"I suppose the security situation was not quite the same then. The pig endeared itself to many people."
Poor Brian. Less popular than a pig. The pig obviously did not have a loudhailer.
