A FUN-day dubbed "biggest game of hide-and-seek" is being organised for the city's children so they can imagine what it's like to be a predator - or its prey.
Camouflage Capers is aimed at eight to 12 year olds as part of the city council's half term activities for the Young Rangers' Club.
City Council Ranger Richard Clarke said: "Camouflage Capers will be a lot of fun and games for all, even though we're dealing with the deadly serious business of wildlife survival. Every day there's a war going on between predator and prey, so camouflage is a vital skill - and that's what we'll be looking at, using games and challenges to recreate wildlife's often amazing battle to survive.
"It's nature's daily game of hide-and-seek on the grand scale. Children will take part in a number of games based on predator-prey relationships and animals' in-built camouflage skills such as avoiding bat echo-location, finding the best places to hide from your adversaries, and the often amazing scare techniques some are able to call on to avoid ending up as some other creature's supper!" he said.
The event will take place at Chapter Meadows off Bromwich Road from 2pm to 3.30pm this Wednesday and children and families are welcome - though, say the Rangers, prior booking is essential.
As the event is being held outdoors, sensible footwear and clothing to suit the weather conditions are also advisable.
The event is free, although £2 donations from each child would be welcome, they say. To book, contact the Rangers on 01905 722328.
