NEW golf sensation Scott Drummond can today count himself a member of an elite two-man club --Arnold Palmer is the other.
Until last night Palmer was the only player to have won the Volvo PGA Championship, the European Tour's flagship title, at his first attempt.
That was 1975 and since then the list of players who have tried and failed to emulate him reads like a Hall of Fame.
But Drummond did it and however long the event goes on, this was the 50th staging, there will be no more surprising champion than the 30-year-old from Shrewsbury.
A magical closing round of 64 at Wentworth had given him a two-stroke triumph over Argentina's Angel Cabrera.
Now he, his wife Claire and their month-old daughter Keira are the proud owners of a cheque for almost £420,000.
Hereford's David Park won £16,737 after finishing four under and a tie for 38th place, while Droitwich's John Bickerton (£14,239) was a stroke further back.
