TOM Moody hopes Worcestershire will take full advantage of being drawn at home in the quarter-final of the Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy when they will meet Essex at New Road on Tuesday, June 15.

The County, last season's beaten finalists, went into the draw after an easy eight wicket home win over Somerset on Saturday.

Director of cricket Moody admitted he was not 'overly fussed' who his troops were drawn against, but added: "The only thing I suppose is a bonus from our perspective is that we've got a home draw, which I think is great.

"It is a slight advantage to be at home and also it's great to have that home support.

"It's a competition we did well in last year. We fell at the last hurdle but this year it's great to get to the quarter-finals and let's hope we can go beyond and make amends for last year."

The County romped to victory on Saturday when Somerset's decision to bat first after winning the toss backfired dramatically and they were dismissed for a paltry 95 in 27.3 overs.

It was their lowest ever score in limited-over competitions against Worcestershire, beating the previous lowest of 99 in a Sunday League match at New Road in 1993.

Andy Bichel was shell-shocked Somerset's main problem with the Australian paceman finishing with 4-17. David Leatherdale also chipped in with 3-9.

Man-of-the-match Bichel then helped guide the County safely home with an unbeaten 38 in an undefeated half century partnership with Gareth Batty (32 not out).

Their efforts enabled skipper Ben Smith's men to clinch victory with more than 35 overs to spare. Moody said: "It wasn't the steepest total to chase so you expect to win quite comfortably. But it was nice to win it in the fashion we did and get the job done efficiently.

"I'm sure the wicket was probably about a 220 wicket and that would have been a challenging total to chase."

He also praised Bichel, saying: "He bowled well. He has been finding it tough to get regular rhythm since he's been over here, but this is the best he's bowled and he'll be pleased with that. I'm sure he'll go from strength to strength."

Bichel said: "It's always nice for me to play in these games and it was nice to come out and take some wickets and even get a few runs in the end. It's surprising to bowl any side out for 95."
