DISCOVERY: Evidence of a mediaeval workshop has been unearthed in Hereford.
The remains of a furnace and metal workings dating back to the 15th Century have been found in Bewell Street, near to All Saints Church.
Archaeologist Cath Crooks said a cess pit and kitchen rubbish had also been found, indicating the city's inhabitants were living and working in the same space in the 1400s.
The surprising discovery indicates that the city's residents were working from home and selling their iron products from their front doors, she added.
