THE Evening News was today coming to terms with the tragic loss of Tony Moore, our Deputy Sports Editor.
Tony, who was just 40, had been an integral part of our sports team for more than a decade.
He was discovered at his St Peter's home on Sunday.
The cause of his death was not known today, and the Worcestershire coroner has been informed. A post mortem is to be carried out.
News of Tony's passing was broken to his colleagues this morning.
The tributes were led by Sports Editor Paul Ricketts, who worked with Tony during his years at Worcester.
"He was a great friend and colleague and in his years with us won the respect of the local sporting fraternity, said Mr Ricketts. "We are all stunned.
Evening News Deputy Editor Mark Higgitt echoed the tribute.
"We'll miss his sense of humour and his passion and dedication to sport.
"He'll be remembered with affection for years to come."
Tony, who was single, was a native of Devon and proud of his roots.
He was an avid Plymouth Argyle fan and was ecstatic at their recent promotion to Division One.
Details of the funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
