LES Bailey bagged a bronze medal at the recent Britain Sprint Triathlon Championship held at Arrow County Park, Redditch.
In perfect racing conditions, the Worcester Tri Club member completed the 400 metres open water swim, 20km hilly bike and 5km flat out/back run in an overall time of 1.19.09, only 70 seconds separated the top three competitors in the 65-69 year category.
Other club members:- Roz Townsend-Hope 1.20.39 (4th age category 50-54); Gail Flanaghan 1.21.21 (5th age category 50-54).
Michelle Parsons was the only member of the club to compete at the annual Swindon Duathlon held over a course of 10km run, 38km undulating bike and a final 5km run.
As is usual for Michelle she had a very strong race finishing overall 2nd lady and winning her age group (35-39 years) by over 9 minutes.
Her time was 2.8.55 and she achieved the fastest female bike split of the day. It was a National Duathlon ranking series race and Michelle is leading so far this year.
Over 700 competitors took part in the Tewkesbury half mar-athon, a very popular road race held on the outskirts of Tewkesbury.
Good weather prevailed. Club member Andrew Short did exceptionally well to finish in 10th overall position in a time of 1.21.09.
He was more than pleased with his performance and it shows he is on target to do a good time in the Edinburgh marathon in June. He won second prize in the 45-49 year category.
