LIFE has become so hectic for some people they need someone else to walk their dog, do their washing and even book their hair appointments!

And to cope with these demands a whole new industry has sprung up, where people do everything for their bosses that they do not have time to do themselves, as featured in the new BBC television programme New Servants.

Now a Worcestershire woman is cashing in on the trend with her new "lifestyle management" company, which, she hopes, will answer busy resident's dreams.

Such is the buzz about the emerging industry, Lucy Ormerod, from Bromsgrove, has herself been approached by a television production company that is currently monitoring her progress.

"I really did a lot of research on the internet," said Miss Ormerod, who was brought up in Worcestershire and started her company, SPS Lifestyle Ltd, in March. Tasks can range from making sure there is fresh bread and milk in the fridge when a client returns from holiday, to staying at a client's house while they are at work to wait for a tradesman.

"There are a lot of companies in London and other big cities doing it but as far as we know, there is no competition locally," continued Miss Ormerod, who runs the business with another director, Paul Tisdale, from premises in Bromsgrove's Birmingham Road.

Since we started, the interest in this area has been really great. I like it because you build a good relationship with your client you become part of their lives and they rely on you.

Miss Ormerod calls herself a people person and says she has a thing for organising people. She is aiming her service at professional couples who work and need quality time together when not working.

It's a practical way of relieving stress.

When you are at work you can concentrate on your work, because you know that your tasks at home are being taken care of.

It's all about work-life balance, which for most people at the moment is out of kilter.

When I do a consultation, I ask them what takes up the most time and what is their 'to do' list. I say to them it is like having a personal assistant for your home life.
