THERE's still time to book a float or stall for the Kidderminster Carnival, which will take place at the Brinton Park showground, on Saturday, June 19.
But people seeking fun before then, can take advantage of two big events lined up by the Kidderminster Carnival Committee.
On Saturday, June 5, the annual fund-raising duck race will take place on the River Stour in Kidderminster, starting at Tesco's bridge, from 4pm.
Carnival Committee Chairman, Colin Hill said: "We hope to build on the success of our first duck race which proved a big hit with people of all ages, last year."
The owner of this year's triumphant plastic duck will get two adult tickets for the Severn Valley Railway.
The duck that streams in second will win its owner free entry to the West Midlands Safari Park, for a carload of four people. The third place prize will be a £10 voucher for Tesco's.
The Carnival Committee has also organised a jazz barbecue at the Swan Centre, for Friday, June 11.Music will be provided by Worcester's Sauce City Band and there will be barbecue food available and a licensed bar. Proceeds will go to the Wyre Forest Age Concern Minibus Appeal, the Carnival's chosen charity for 2004.
Mr Hill said: "We have held a carnival concert in the town hall over the last few years, which were well received.
"But we thought it was time for a change and we are keeping our fingers crossed that this event proves popular. It should be a great night, with some excellent music."
