Reigning champion point-to-point jockey Richard Burton is pulling out all the stops in his efforts to retain his title and a treble at the Albrighton Woodland fixture took him to the 50 winner mark for the season.
An all the way Mixed Open success aboard Jemaro was the sandwich in a Chaddesley Corbett treble that started with Snowtre for owner Jim Callow in the Confined race and Sabena Canyon in the Restricted Open race.
Sabena Canyon was sent to the front at the third last fence by Burton and despite a valiant attempt by runner-up Ed Walker aboard Jolly Jake, this completed Burton's 50 for the season.
He was later disappointed to learn that his title rival Ashley Farrant had also scored a treble at the South Tetcott meeting at Lifton taking him onto the 52 winner mark.
Jockey Emma James also took the plaudits riding a double with a seven-length win aboard Primitive Son in the opening Members race and then concluding the meeting with a length success aboard Franco Lady in the 12-runner Maiden race from the chasing Winnick and Geoff Barfoot-Saunt.
