WORCESTER suffered their first Birmingham and District Cricket League Division Two defeat of the season when they went down by 134 runs at Studley.

Once again it was their batting that let them down. Chasing Studley's 232-7 Worcester were bundled out for a meagre 98.

Only New Zealander Dan McKay, with a gritty 59no, managed to reach double figures.

It could have been a lot worse for Worcester with them 46-8 at one stage but a partnership of 51 between McKay and fellow Kiwi Campbell Wilson at least allowed them to reach their final inadequate total.

Destroyer in chief for the home side was Branden Miller with 6-43. Miller also got in on the act earlier when his side batted as he crafted a beautiful 91 including six fours. He was well supported by Mike Stanenkovic, who made 55, as the Worcester bowlers failed to contain their hosts. Wilson, with 3-77, and Stu Lockwood, with 3-66, did their best to stem the flow of runs but Worcester gave away 41 extras including 25 wides to take just three points from the match.

n Worcester's seconds had much the better of a draw when they entertained Kings Heath at the Gordon Jones Memorial ground. On a good batting pitch the home side made 255-5 in their 50 overs, with Chris Genever (89) leading the way and Alan Levy (52) and Roger Weston (38) giving good support. Skipper Alan Gill took 5-130 for the visitors.

Kings Heath's reply was a dogged affair, after losing an early wicket they shut up shop to play for a draw as they toiled to 178-3 off their 50 overs with John Webb making a dogged 55. Worcester took 13 points to Kings Heath's six.
